Did you know that your dentist can provide laser treatment? Laser gum contouring can address problems like a gummy smile or remove infected gum tissue. But did you also know that your dentist can provide laser skin resurfacing? Dr. Trace Bridges offers laser dentistry treatment at Hope Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry in Tulsa, OK, for dental and cosmetic problems.
Soft tissue lasers are common non-surgical treatments for the gums. Cosmetic laser treatment is also a great add-on to our dental services. We can treat the gums, lips, eyes, and skin with comfortable lasers. Lasers can prevent future dental problems, improve patients’ smiles and health, and enhance skin volume and smoothness.
How Do Lasers Work?
A laser uses concentrated heat to break down tissue. In dentistry, dentists use hard or soft tissue lasers to treat different dental problems. Hard tissue lasers can treat the teeth, while soft tissue lasers treat the gums and other tissues in the mouth. Our office uses soft tissue lasers to cut and contour the gums gently.
Cosmetic lasers can stimulate collagen production. Collagen is a protein that affects your skin elasticity. A laser heats the epidermis, or outer layer of the skin, to affect the dermis or underlayer of the skin. The heat from the laser helps increase collagen production in your skin over time.
The Benefits of Dental Lasers
Lasers offer many benefits to patients seeking an alternative to surgical tools or injections. Laser dentistry in our Tulsa, OK office provides:
- Quiet treatment: Unlike other surgical or dental tools, lasers do not make much noise. You can feel comfortable during your treatment if you are sensitive to loud noises.
- Minimally invasive treatment: When we use lasers, we do not need to use needles or drills. This is particularly beneficial when we provide cosmetic laser treatment on the lips and face. You do not need injections to smooth your skin or volumize your lips.
- Less bleeding: Another benefit of lasers is they seal any cuts. This means that when we use a laser to contour the gum tissue, the laser seals the tissue to minimize bleeding. The laser also reduces inflammation when we treat the gum tissue.
- Minimal downtime: Lasers help speed the healing process, which means you don’t have to be out of commission for over a couple of days.
Laser Dentistry Treatments in Tulsa, OK
We can treat the gums, lips, and face using different lasers. Cosmetic laser skin treatments can help plump the lips, tighten facial skin, and brighten the skin. Our laser treatments include:
Gum Contouring
Laser gum contouring treatment benefits patients with gummy smiles. A gummy smile occurs when too much of the gums covers the teeth. A laser can remove excess gum tissue to show more of the teeth. Gum contouring can also remove infected gum tissue for patients with gum disease.
Before these treatments, we will numb the mouth. Then, we will gently target the tissue with the laser. The laser will remove any harmful bacteria that it comes into contact with.
Fotona Skin Resurfacing
Fontana 4D laser treatment provides noninvasive skin resurfacing. Laser resurfacing brightens the skin in 20 to 30-minute treatments without damaging the skin’s surface. You are a good candidate for this treatment if you have acne scars, uneven skin, sun-damaged skin, fine lines, or wrinkles.
We will provide two to three sessions, one month apart. Your results will last about a year before you will need touch-ups.
Fotona EyeLase
If you experience creases around your eyes or bags underneath your eyes, we recommend EyeLase. Using a laser, we can tighten the skin surrounding the eyes to create smoother, brighter skin. We will numb the treated area and provide you with eye protection. Then, we will use the laser to gently treat your under eyes. This treatment can take 30 minutes or less.
LipLase
This needle-free, non-invasive treatment enhances the shape and size of the lips. To begin LipLase treatment, we will numb your lips. Then, we will target the laser on the inside and the outside of the lips. The heat from the laser increases collagen production in the lips, creating a fuller look.
A LipLase treatment takes about 30 minutes to complete. It can take several weeks to achieve optimal results. LipLase is a great alternative to fillers because it does not use needles.
VectorLift
A VectorLift treatment uses a laser to stimulate collagen production in the face. This treatment helps tighten skin in the eyebrows, eyelids, and scalp. As with LipLase treatment, we will numb your face before treatment. We will also place a covering over your eyes. Then, we slowly take the laser from the eyelids to the hairline.
The laser will gradually heat the skin to increase collagen in these areas, which ultimately helps smooth the skin. You will notice immediate skin tightening and will continue to see effects weeks after your treatment.
Post-Op Laser Treatment
We will provide more custom instructions for you after your laser treatment. However, there are several common things to expect after each type of laser treatment. After gum contouring, you can experience some irritation. We recommend using a warm salt water rinse while you avoid brushing and flossing at the treatment site. Additionally, avoid hard or crunchy foods that can irritate your gums.
Depending on the type of skin treatment, recovery may take several days. We ask that you avoid sun exposure and makeup immediately after laser skin treatment. You should also avoid applying pressure to your face. Use a cold compress if you experience redness or swelling, and ensure you elevate your head during sleep to minimize swelling.
Please contact our office if you have any questions during your recovery. We can provide advice to ensure comfortable healing.
